About the Location (Map) QR Code

Addresses can be ambiguous, and some places, like a trailhead, a campsite or a side entrance, have no useful address at all. A location QR code stores an exact latitude and longitude as a geo: link, so scanning it opens the phone's map app at that spot. This tool checks your coordinates and builds the code in your browser.

What you can do

• Enter a latitude between -90 and 90 and a longitude between -180 and 180 in decimal degrees.
• See the code appear only when both values are valid.
• Adjust colours and error correction to suit your design.
• Save it as PNG or SVG, or copy it into a document.

When it works best

• Wedding and event invitations for venues that are hard to find.
• Delivery instructions for a warehouse dock or back entrance.
• Hiking, camping and outdoor event signs.

Things to know

• Your coordinates stay in the browser while the code is built.
• Coordinates must be decimal, like 37.7749, not degrees and minutes. Copy them from your map app.
• Most Android phones and iPhones open geo: links in a map app, but a few scanners only display the numbers.
• If you want the code to open a specific Google Maps or Apple Maps page, generate it from that page's link with QR Code Generator.
