About the Phone QR Code
A printed phone number still has to be dialled by hand, and digits get swapped. A phone QR code holds a tel: link, so scanning it brings up the dialler with the number already entered. This tool strips spaces, dashes and brackets from what you type, keeps the plus sign for international numbers, and builds the code in your browser.
What you can do
- Type the number in any format, such as +44 20 7946 0958; spaces and punctuation are removed for you.
- Keep a leading + so the number works from abroad.
- Set the code colours and error correction.
- Save it as a PNG or SVG, or copy it for a document.
When it works best
- Service vans, shop fronts and "for sale" signs where people want to call straight away.
- Booking lines on flyers for restaurants, taxis and salons.
- Emergency or support numbers on equipment and stickers.
Things to know
- The number is encoded in the browser and is not stored by WizzyTools.
- Scanning opens the dialler; the person still taps Call, so nothing is dialled without their consent.
- Include the country code when people from other countries may call.
- Extensions and pause characters are dropped. To start a text message instead, use SMS QR Code.
